1. Why are user names required on MyVacationPlaces.com?
A new user must register to take advantage of several of the advanced features available on MyVacationPlaces.com, including posting a MyVacationPlace.com ad, use of the Rich text editor, and enhanced use of the MyVacationPlaces.com, Blogs, and advanced use of the Forums. Users who do not register can still VIEW ads, blogs, and do basic posts in the forums. Once a user registers, a registered user can post to the forums and classified "Vacation Places" posting area, although all ads are reviewed by the MyVacationPlaces.com webmaster, before they are made visible. Generally this review process will take 12 hours or less (and sometimes it is only minutes).�
By default, only a user's DISPLAY name (and COUNTRY \ Area) is shown to other users, unless that new user implicitly changes their profile to allow other registration information (like favorite website or email address) to be shown to others. Another reason for the registration process, is to reduce the possibility that fraudulent users will attempt to use the website for purposes not intended, like spamming.
